Fear Can Be Good?

So it's that time of year. Again. When the evil ways of society force us to go back to school and feed us the lie that we need to learn something so we can be productive human beings and actually have a life. Okay..... So there may be something to the whole "being a productive human being with a career" thing. No matter how much school can suck, the pros probably outweigh the cons. And it gives you time to figure out what you want to do with your life, and experience new things, new people. If only they could up with a way to teach that didn't involve essays and hours upon hours of readings. I'm actually going into my last year of university, and it is bitter sweet. I'm excited that I'm finally going to finish school, but at the same time that means I have to go out into the "real world" and become one of those "productive human beings" of society, and that, is terrifying. But I think that life should be terrifying sometimes (the good...

How To Build Your Confidence

Image
A long, long time ago, I had to do something I didn't want to do. I had to go to the dreaded place where doctors reside. Yeah, I know, doctors are supposed to make sure your healthy and all that crap we tell ourselves to make us feel better. But lets face it, no one wants to go to the doctor. I wouldn't say that I was actually afraid to go, but I was definitely nervous. I don't know why, maybe I have some subconscious fear that I'll go to a doctor and they'll tell me I'm dying. But enough about me, I'm here to tell you some ways that you can boost your confidence so that you can get through the hard things. Like going to the doctor. (Just a side note, I really do appreciate all that doctors do, even if I don't necessarily want to go to them). Tip # 1  Tell yourself that you can do it. That you are confident. That you have the power! Yeah, okay, it sounds like B.S., but seriously, it works. If you tell yourself something long enough, you really do sta...

Technology Has A Hold On You

Technology has become a crutch. Yes, I know it is ironic to write about technology being a crutch while using it, but I think I'll give it a go anyway. Technology is a marvelous thing, it has led to the betterment of many lives including my own. But sometimes, I wonder where the world would be without it. In the old days people actually had to take the time to sit down and write letters to people. Now you can see a person on your phone while you talk to them. Is this better or worse? Many would argue better, but at the same time there is something to be said for the effort that would go into writing a letter. I mean, you had to actually sit down and think about what you wanted to say and then send it off. Arguably you can still do that in an email, but somehow the email still seems easier. Technology may take less effort to communicate with people today, but does that mean they communicate more often? To write a letter to someone you would have to really to communicate ...

What Drives Us

Why are we compelled to write? To read? To do anything? Why do we feel this driving need to make something of our lives? What is the point of it? I don't have an answer. I don't think anyone really does, yet we keep doing it. We keep endlessly working toward it, with no idea where we are going or how we are going to get there. Yet we still have the dream. We wake up early, stay up all hours of the night. Our passion drives us to complete this thing we are searching after. People tell us we are going to fail. We cannot possibly win. There are already too many people out there doing the exact same thing we want to do. Few of them succeed, but hundreds of them fail. We don't listen, of course. We think that we will be the special ones. We will be the one to succeed. They don't know what they are talking about. They are just bitter because they had their chance and blew it. Some of us do succeed. Some of us do quite well despite all the odds that are stacked...

Human Nature

Image
I'm sitting here at my desk preparing to write a blog post for you. It's cloudy out, slightly windy, looks like it might rain. I know, you don't give a damn about the weather. You want to know why you're here and what I can do for you. Whether I can entertain you, make you laugh, or give you some valuable piece of information that you probably could have came up with on your own if you really tried hard enough. Well sorry to disappoint you, but I don't have anything mind boggling to say today. I would however, like to talk a little bit about human nature (yes I know I'm not actually talking but typing words that you will read at some point in the future). Human nature is an odd thing. We all have it, well, unless you're not human....in which case please tell me in the comments what you think of human nature from a nonhuman perspective. But for the rest of us, we all have it. When I talk about human nature, I mean things like what draws us toward other hu...

18 Signs You Hate People

Image
I Hate People 1. When people make plans with you, the day of the plans you are conveniently away from your phone. 2. When someone throws you a surprise party you thank them and then quietly sneak away and call the police. 3. You take the saying "three's a crowd" to heart. 4. You start to think that orphans have a pretty sweet deal. 5. You live in the country just so you don't have to talk to anyone even though you hate trees. and bugs. and just nature in general. 6. You make up a rare disease just so you have an excuse when your friends ask you to hang out. Assuming you have friends, that is. 7. You lie to your family and tell them you're going to a friend's house when really you'd rather be forced to endure a nine hour loop of "kitty kitty you're so pretty pretty." 8. You treat inanimate objects like they are your true friends and in a fire you'd save their "life" rather than, you know, an actual person. 9. ...

We All Suck Sometimes

Do you ever feel like you just suck? Like you can't do anything right? Like everyone is better at you at everything, including sucking? I mean, I literally feel bad for feeling bad sometimes. There are people with way worse situations in the world than I have, and probably worse then you have. But I'm here to tell you that no matter how much you think you suck, you can't keep thinking that. Let's get one thing straight here. You may not like what I'm going to say, but guess what. You're not a vampire, a robot, or a highly advance organism. You are human. *gasp* It's true. You're human. You are not perfect. Even if you think you're perfect, you're not. So stop beating yourself up for not doing something as impossible as being perfect! You need to be your own best friend in life. So wait. You're telling me I'm now so pathetic and lonely I have to pretend that I'm my best friend?  Well, not exactly. It essentially means you need to t...
