How To Beat The Heat

Summer time. The children are free from their shackles (school), you can go outside without shoveling your car out for two hours, and you can enjoy the sun shining in your office window (after you murder your boss for making you work Saturday). There's only one problem. It's hotter than Hell outside. But don't worry, because here are some tips on how to beat the heat (not literally).

1. Drink water. Lots of water. Water is your friend. Not that friend who your're nice to their face, then you turn around and plot a brutal and painful death for them. Rather, water is your new bff. The biggest thing water does is it helps to keep you hydrated. This may not seem like much, but it keeps you from getting sick from dehydration, and making you feel even worse. You can also add ice cubes to the water, so it will be ice cold, to help cool you down. Bonus tip: to tell if you are hydrated, look at your pee. The lighter it is, the more hydrated you are, and the darker it is, the less hydrated you are.

2. Take a cold bath. Baths are not just for cold winter nights alone, but can also be used for hot summer days alone (or, with a buddy ;). This is probably one of the cheapest ways to stay cool in the summer. Just turn on the cold water, and jump in! You can even do it in a blackout!

3. Air conditioner/central air. This one can be quite expensive. But it does work well. Plus, you can brag to all your friends who don't have air conditioning. But don't brag too much, you never know what the heat will drive people to do. They might kill you. Or worse. Take your air conditioning!

4. Swimming. Pretty much no matter how hot it is outside, water will make you cooler. There are lots of places to swim: your pool, the beach, shark infested waters, your neighbour's pool, your enemy's pool, a lake, and many more. Just remember to practice safe swimming habits, and have fun!

5. The Basement. Basements are generally cooler than the rest of the hour. So, if you have no where else to go, you can head on down to the basement. Plus, as an added bonus, you can root through all of your family's stuff, and find the goodies! Or, jump out of the basement and scare people when get home. Whatever floats your boat.

I hope these tips help you to beat the heat, and stay cool this summer. What is your favorite
way to stay cool that you would add to the list?
